A modern extension to a traditional country house allowed me to create new entertainment spaces, a large play lawn, and a ‘Grow Your Own’ patch. This young family enjoys outdoor play activities, dining al fresco, and entertaining family and friends. Therefore I decided to convert the small existing lawn by the dining/BBQ area into a space to gather around a fire pit. The large area at the rear of the house was divided into a generous patio for bigger gatherings, a large play lawn, a planting bed for colour, a new orchard, and a greenhouse supplying this active family with the freshest produce. I also added a small retreat at the far end of the garden - hidden behind the planting bed, a pergola-covered space for a quiet moment away from the hustle and bustle.
